377-379 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne

Containing its original plate glass, the windows in the Little Bourke street project were installed when the building was first erected in the 1930's. With little to no energy efficiency parameters required at the time, thermal properties were of little concern, causing the structure to lose and gain heat/cold rapidly during summer and winter months.

The owner chose to remove the units and replace them with Alliage aluminium windows to allow for greater energy efficiency and reduced heating/cooling costs to tenants. Utilising a double glazed profile allowed for much better thermal properties to be reached, thus improving the living conditions within the relevant tenancies.

We were able to integrate the aluminium frames, creating a seamless transition from the old windows to the new energy efficient, double glazed units. The frames were powder coated in a soft grey to match the buildings current colour scheme.

The project included fixed and awning windows and glass louvres.
